Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Jaya Bachchan once again raised objections in the Rajya Sabha when her full name was called out by the Chairman. She expressed her discomfort with being referred to as "Jaya Amitabh Bachchan" and labeled it as a "new drama" in the Parliament. Jaya Bachchan emphasized that she is proud of her association with her husband, Amitabh Bachchan, but believes that her own identity should be respected.

During the exchange, Jaya Bachchan questioned why Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar did not include his wife's name after his own. In response, Khattar humorously stated that she would have to wait for their next birth since he is unmarried. This banter highlighted the ongoing debate about women being identified solely by their husband's names, prompting a discussion on individual identity and recognition.

Jaya Bachchan also raised concerns about the condition of Gurugram, which she described as a smart city with recent issues of waterlogging. Khattar clarified that Gurugram is not officially listed as a smart city, with only Faridabad and Karnal holding that designation in Haryana. He assured that efforts would be made to address the waterlogging issue and emphasized the significance of Gurugram as an iconic city with a strong corporate presence.

The exchange in the Rajya Sabha shed light on the importance of recognizing individuals by their chosen names and identities, rather than solely through marital associations. Jaya Bachchan's objections sparked a conversation about gender equality and the need for acknowledging women's individual achievements and contributions. The incident serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts towards promoting inclusivity and respect for diverse identities in public discourse.
