Chandrababu Naidu, president of the TDP and Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, has embarked on a significant mission—to secure the prestigious Bharat Ratna for two pivotal figures in his life and career. One of them is his father-in-law and TDP founder, late N.T. Rama Rao, revered for his transformative impact on Andhra Pradesh politics. The other is Ch. Ramoji Rao, chairman of the Eenadu Group, whose indirect support played a crucial role in the TDP's rise to power and who stood steadfastly by Naidu during challenging times.

Naidu has rallied his party MPs and cadre to actively pursue this goal, pledging the TDP's full support in the endeavor. Recently, during a memorial event for Ramoji Rao, Naidu underscored the responsibility of TDP members to ensure Ramoji Rao's deserving recognition with the Bharat Ratna. With the tradition of announcing Padma awards in August, including the Bharat Ratna, Naidu and his party have a tight timeline of just one month to strategize and execute their plan effectively.

While there is typically a tradition of awarding only one Bharat Ratna per state, Naidu's influence within the ruling NDA government at the Centre may open avenues for consideration. The success of Naidu's efforts remains to be seen, as he navigates the complexities of political influence and the formalities surrounding India's highest civilian honor.
