The YSR Congress Party finds itself in turmoil following its disappointing performance in the recent AP assembly elections, securing less than 10% of seats. Former MLA Kethireddy Venkat Ram Reddy has stirred controversy by suggesting that YS Vijayamma and Sharmila played significant roles in the party's historic defeat.
According to Kethireddy, Sharmila's alleged clandestine dealings with detractors like Ramoji Rao and ABN Radhakrishna, known critics of the YS family, exacerbated tensions within the party even before the split with Jagan. He accused Vijayamma of complacency during this process, highlighting instances where media speculation about Vijayamma's allegiances preceded official announcements.
Kethireddy criticized Vijayamma's public endorsement of Sharmila during the election campaign, despite her son Jagan contesting directly as Chief Minister. This, he claimed, added to the internal strife within the party and contributed to its electoral setbacks.
While internal party dynamics and Jagan's political strategies are commonly cited reasons for the party's electoral performance, Kethireddy's pointed critique of Vijayamma adds a surprising twist to the narrative, highlighting deeper rifts and complexities within the YSR Congress Party.
