The recent inauguration of a park named after Yerra Nageswara Rao, the father of IAS officer Srilakshmi, has ignited debate over the use of public funds in Andhra Pradesh. With Rs 2 crore allocated by the AP Greenery and Beautification department and an additional Rs 18 lakh from Machilipatnam municipality, the total expenditure of Rs 2.18 crore on this project raises serious questions. Typically, parks are dedicated to prominent figures or historical personalities, but in this case, the park honors an ordinary railway employee. This situation has led to concerns about potential conflicts of interest and the ethical use of taxpayer money. The presence of a statue of Srilakshmi's father in the park further fuels the controversy surrounding this public spending decision.
