The new liquor policy in Andhra Pradesh, introduced by the TDP+ government, marks a significant departure from the controversial measures of the previous administration led by Jagan Mohan Reddy. Under Reddy's tenure, the state witnessed a drastic increase in liquor prices and several high-selling brands were reported to be contaminated. This sparked widespread criticism and dissatisfaction among consumers.
Starting October 2024, the new policy aims to restore consumer trust by focusing on quality and affordability. The TDP+ government has scrapped the previous price hikes and minimum price regulations, allowing for the reintroduction of quality liquor brands at prices below Rs 100. This policy overhaul also ensures that top brand liquors are sold at their standard MRP without additional costs, addressing past issues of inflated pricing.
In a bid to align with public interests, the new policy has been crafted with active consultation between government officials and liquor company representatives. This collaborative approach seeks to ensure that consumers receive high-quality products at fair prices, reflecting a commitment to transparency and consumer satisfaction in the state's liquor distribution syst
