The exodus of Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) MLAs to the Congress party in Telangana shows no signs of slowing down. With the recent defection of Patancheru MLA Mahipal Reddy, the number of BRS MLAs joining the ruling party has now reached double digits. This trend began after the BRS lost power in the December 2023 elections, and it seems to be gaining momentum.

Reports suggest that another five BRS MLAs are in talks with the Congress high command, awaiting approval from CM and TPCC president Revanth Reddy to switch sides. Three of these MLAs have reportedly received a positive response and are waiting for the right opportunity to make their move. Among those considering defection are Zaheerabad MLA Manik Rao, Alampur MLA Vijayudu, and Boath MLA Anil Jadhav, with more MLAs from Greater Hyderabad also expressing interest in joining the Congress.

With local body elections approaching, the Congress is strategically welcoming BRS MLAs to strengthen its position and hinder the comeback plans of the opposition party. Out of the 39 BRS MLAs, 10 have already joined the Congress, and five more are expected to follow suit soon. By attracting as many BRS MLAs as possible, the Congress aims to secure a significant victory in the upcoming elections and establish its dominance across the state.
