HYDRAA: Hyderabad's New Weapon Against Illegal Constructions

The Hyderabad Disaster Response Authority (HYDRAA) has become the talk of the town in Hyderabad and Telangana, as it cracks down on illegal constructions in buffer lands reserved for natural water bodies. Formed by the Revanth Reddy government, HYDRAA is led by IPS A V Ranganath, who has been instrumental in the agency's operations targeting encroachers and land grabbers.

Ranganath and his team at HYDRAA have successfully reclaimed 150 acres of land in just a month, demolishing 140 illegal constructions, including 50 multi-story buildings. Their primary focus is on repossessing lands within buffer zones and Full Tank Level (FTL) areas surrounding water bodies to prevent further encroachments in the city.

The agency has announced plans to restore buffer lands around 185 lakes in Hyderabad, where nearly 60% of the lakes have been encroached upon. To enhance their efforts, HYDRAA will establish a dedicated police station with a team of ACPs, inspectors, and staff to address complaints related to land grabbing and water body encroachments.

In a bold move, HYDRAA recently took down Nagarjuna's N Convention in Madhapur, signaling their no-nonsense approach towards illegal constructions. With more high-profile actions expected in the coming weeks, the agency is committed to ensuring the protection of buffer lands and water bodies in the city.
