The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has officially announced its decision to boycott the upcoming Member of Legislative Council (MLC) elections for graduates, scheduled to take place in Andhra Pradesh. Addressing the media today, senior party leader and former minister Perni Nani, along with other key YSRCP leaders like Ambati Rambabu, voiced strong concerns regarding the alleged undemocratic practices by the coalition government in the state, particularly under the leadership of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP).

Perni Nani criticized the coalition government for what he termed "unfair" practices in the conduct of elections for graduate constituencies in several key districts, including Krishna, Guntur, and the combined Godavari regions. He predicted that the elections would not be held in a transparent or fair manner and expressed doubts about the integrity of the process.

The former minister further accused the government of compromising peace and security, alleging that YSRCP workers were being harassed and intimidated. He pointed out that despite numerous violations by TDP leaders, the police had failed to take action, highlighting what he described as the government's inaction and favoritism.

Nani and other YSRCP leaders, including Ambati Rambabu, also reiterated that the atmosphere in the state was not conducive to free and fair elections. Given these circumstances, the party decided to take a strong stand by boycotting the MLC elections. The YSRCP's announcement has created a stir in the state's political circles, with many now questioning the credibility of the upcoming electoral process.

The boycott of the MLC elections by YSRCP is seen as a significant move, as it reflects the party's discontent with the functioning of the coalition government and its handling of election-related issues. It remains to be seen how this decision will impact the overall electoral dynamics in the state, especially in the graduate constituencies where the YSRCP had previously shown significant support.
