The Telugu film industry is set for an exciting and diverse release slate on August 2, promising a cinematic downpour that follows a brief lull after the June 27 release of Kalki 2898. With no major releases in the interim and only solo films hitting the screens on subsequent Fridays, August 2 is shaping up to be a significant date, offering something for every film enthusiast. Here’s a rundown of what to expect from this action-packed day.
Kicking off the festivities on August 1, Shivam Bhaje—starring Ashwin Babu—will hit the theatres a day early. This film blends traditional crime thriller elements with unique mythological themes, aiming to captivate audiences with its novel approach. As the first film to release in this cluster, it will set the tone for the upcoming weekend's offerings.
On August 2, Allu Sirish's Buddy stands out with its creative adaptation of the 2021 film Teddy. Produced by Studio Green, this film has garnered considerable attention due to Allu Sirish’s extensive promotional efforts, including select premieres in Andhra Pradesh. Early feedback suggests positive reactions, which could make Buddy a strong contender at the box office.
The day will also see the release of several other notable films. Raj Tarun's Tiragabadara Saami follows closely on the heels of his previous release, Purushottamudu, showcasing his prolific presence. Varun Sandesh’s Viraaji, arriving nearly a month after Nindha, also joins the fray. Veteran director Vijay Bhaskar's romantic drama Usha Parinayam, featuring his son Sree Kamal, promises to be a heartfelt addition to the lineup. Additionally, Vijay Antony makes his return with Toofan, the Telugu dubbed version of Mazhai Pidikatha Manithan. Other films, including Alanati Ramachandrudu and lesser-known titles like Average Student Nani and Lorry, will also vie for attention. From Mumbai, Janhvi Kapoor’s Ulajh and the Ajay Devgn-Tabu starrer Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha will further enrich the cinematic landscape.
With such a wide array of films competing for audiences' attention, it remains to be seen which of these will rise to prominence and capture the hearts of moviegoers this weekend.
