The Santoor Legacy In New Jersey
Santoor is a trapezoid-shaped string instrument that has its roots in the Himalayan mountains of Kashmir. Loosely translated, it means a 100-stringed vina. The Santoor has been a part of folk music in Kashmir for
many years but it was popularized around the world by Pandit Shivkumar Sharma. He made it mainstream and explored its capabilities by including it in Bollywood, and concerts.
